On June 30, 2025, in Irpin, industry experts, representatives of government bodies, national operators, and international organizations joined forces to discuss changes in the mine action system. The meeting was initiated by the Ukrainian National Association for Humanitarian Demining.
The discussion involved Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine Ihor Bezkaravainyi, Head of the Humanitarian Demining Center Volodymyr Baida, specialists from the International Service Demining, and international consultants.
The participants focused on key issues that will determine the future development of the sector:
– Mechanisms for engaging contractors within the state program for reimbursement of agricultural land clearance costs.
– Establishing fair pricing for services, taking into account the actual condition of the territories and obstacles present.
– Improving qualification requirements for participants in state and international tenders.
– Updating approaches to calculating the cost of demining operations.
– Introducing modern systems for assessing work performance.
– Revising professional standards for mine action specialist training.
– Enhancing access for Ukrainian operators to international tenders, particularly those conducted by UNOPS and UNDP.
The International Service Demining is actively engaged in the reform process, initiating proposals and contributing to the development of solutions that meet international standards and the practical needs of the industry.
The joint efforts of the state, expert community, and international partners help establish unified rules, implement new safety standards, and accelerate land clearance — restoring a safe environment for people to live in.![]()
