The International Service Demining Joined the Discussion on Strategic Decisions in the Field of Mine Action

On July 2, the team of the International Service Demining took part in a professional discussion organized at the initiative of the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change. The event brought together representatives of government bodies, international organizations, and experts working to strengthen the humanitarian demining system and address current challenges in this field.

The central topic was the improvement of the institutional model for managing the humanitarian demining sector and finding effective solutions to overcome systemic challenges.

The event was opened by Yuliia Svyrydenko, First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, who outlined the government’s position on building a transparent, efficient, and reliable coordination system in this field.

The analytical team of the Tony Blair Institute presented its research, which includes an analysis of existing institutions, identification of weaknesses, and specific recommendations for further reforms.

During the discussion panels, participants focused on the following issues:

the role of international partners in transforming the mine action system;

enhancing the efficiency of interagency coordination;

introducing new technologies and innovations;

ensuring transparency at all levels — from state policy to field operations.

The event’s format included not only an analytical part but also informal communication, which allowed establishing direct contacts with representatives of key Ukrainian and international organizations.

Such meetings are an opportunity not only to exchange ideas but also to actively contribute to shaping the future of Ukraine’s mine action system — one that is efficient, transparent, and result-oriented.

The International Service Demining remains ready to take part in strategic processes and to contribute to creating a safe environment for all citizens of Ukraine.
